During the period from Jan. 1975 to Feb. 1981, we have done clinical studies over 66 operations on 42 patients who had been undergo tendon transfer and bone operations in paralytic foot deformity They belonged to the in-patient with paralytic foot deformity at ourhospital and Sung-Se childrens Rehabilitation center.
The following results were obtained:
1. Causes of paralytic foot deformity were residual poliomyelitis(24 cases), cerebral palsy (11 cases), old club foot(4 cases) and spinal trauma(2 cases), old burn(1 case).
2. Foot deformities were equinovalgus(27 cases), valgus(8 cases) and calcaneovalgus(3 cases) and toe deformities were claw toe(5 cases), hammer toe(2 cases) and hallux valgus (1 cases).
3. Of surgical operationon 42 patients: tendon transfer(51 cases), triple arthrodesis(6 cases), Achilles tendon lengthening(4 cases). , modified Jones operation(2 cases) and Lambrinudi operation(2 cases), Pantalar fusion(1 cases).
4. Most used tendon was peroneus tendon(36 cases) and anteriorly transferred to first cuneiform.
5. Evaluation for surgery listed as: Good to Excellent(53, 3%), Fair(33, 3%), Poor to Failure(13, 3%)
6. Postoperative result was good in poliomyelitis and old club foot but poor in cerebral palsy associated with other anomaly.
